I’ve been living in a world of “I don’t want to” for a couple of weeks.
I don’t want to go to the gym.
I don’t want to make sales calls.
I don’t want to talk about it.
I don’t want to set the world on fire.
Can you guess how far that gets me? Not very far at all.
What don’t YOU want to do?
This week I decided I DO want to set the world on fire.
I AM going to the gym. I have an accountability partner and I am out of bed by 5:00am and getting it over with early. I AM making sales calls. I have an accountability partner and I am committed to meeting my sales goal for April (and beyond).
I AM talking about it. I am talking about it because it feels REALLY good to be in powerful action toward attaining the results that I want. It feels REALLY good to overcome the sulky “don’t want to” voice and start moving forward again.
Trust me when I tell you that I still don’t always want to get up when the alarm bell rings but it doesn’t matter, I get up anyway. I don’t always want to pick up the phone and dial, but it doesn’t matter, I’m doing it anyway. I don’t want to admit to you that I have times, too, when I just don’t want to, but hey, if it helps one other person then it is time to speak up.
Let’s not be driven by how we feel. Let’s not be driven by the unrelenting little voice of doubt. Let’s be motivated by more important things. Focus on the end goal and be in action. It’s that simple. The paradox is this: get in right action and your feelings will change for the better, too.
I have to go now – got things to do and people to call. Have a great day!
